Christmas is always a busy time for Inconnection, as you’d expect, with high demand for events to entertain clients or to reward colleagues for their hard work throughout the year. In 2011, we looked at the feedback we were getting and noticed that events in London were increasingly being described as ‘average’. Clients were complaining of tired venues, poor hosting, sound and screens that were difficult to see and hear and a general lack of polish. Not what Inconnection is in business to provide!
What did we do?
Inconnection decided to take the bull by the horns and using our own expertise and experience, we created the exclusive London Comedy Lunch. Held at the HAC, a remarkable 18th century mansion in the heart of the City, we invested in great catering, stunning room dressing and fun themes to help the event linger in the memory. Most excitingly, we’ve been able to attract some of the country’s top comedy talent including Jimmy Carr, Sean Locke, Jack Whitehall and Dara O’Briain.
Each year, a proportion of the proceeds from the lunch are donated to charity. Since we launched, we’re delighted to have raised a whopping £70k for the various charities we’ve supported.
What were the results?
Perhaps the best indicator of how well an event has been enjoyed is the number of people who rebook the following year. Since 2011, clients including Axa, Arrow, Deloitte and Michelin have returned every year, with 97% rating the event, venue and comedians to be good or excellent.
Hosting a lunch rather than a dinner has proved to be popular for the corporate market; many find it difficult to attract guests to events held at weekends or in the evening, so finding something truly memorable they can attend during the day is just perfect.
